New Job!

I just got a new job. this is most of the reason why I haven't updated in a while. the job is at a little boutique called Madam Butterfly Fashion Outlet. if you live near Tarpon Springs, Fl come take a look.

here is our FaceBook page: Madam Butterfly Facebook

and another sites featuring what we sell.

 :)

I love most of the fashions there and I like getting to wear what I want to work. After I get a new camera I plan on posting pic on here so you can see everything. :)

Dear Princess Celestia....

Everypony has that one friend who they cannot be around very long. You like them but the people they hang out with or sometimes their personality's can be too much for you to handle.

I have a friend like that. She is extremely extroverted and hyper. I love her to death but she can sometimes overwhelm me with her often thoughtless behavior. A lot of my friends choose to ignore her because they think of her as annoying and don't like her behavior. they can be somewhat cruel to her.

But I've learned that everypony should be treated with kindness, even people we cannot always be around 24/7. I have fun with Alli when I do see her and I've learned to like her little quirky, hyper self. I choose to be honest with her when she asks me why I can't hang out because I either can't or don't want to.

She understands her personality and understands how I can love her to death but not always handle her hyper personality.

diffrences do not always mean you need to shun or be unkind to somepony, you just need understanding.

Your faithful subject,

StormFlicker. (AKA Lady Zendra)

P.S thought this would be fun. lol

Friendship lessons: What I've learned from "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic."

The reason for this post is because I'm tired of people saying "My Little Pony is not goth. you can't like it if it's not goth." okay, my little pony may not be goth but that doesn't stop it from being a good show that I enjoy. I've actually learned a lot about being a better friend as well as being a better person from the show. Yes it is a show that is stereotypically for little girls. I actually am glad that "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" is viewed by young girls. Most Famous women now and days are represented as vain, catty and highly unintelligent.

For those who do not know anything about the show, I'll give a brief summary.

The whole show revolves around Twilight Sparkle, A studious young unicorn who loves to read and study in order to perfect her magic. one day during her studies she discovers a prophecy. Nightmare Moon, An evil alicorn (Pegasus/ Unicorn hybrid) is about to break free from her prison on the moon where she was imprisoned long ago by her sister, Princess Celestia. Princess Celestia is Twilight's teacher as well as being the ruler of all Equestria (the Country where all the ponies live)

Princess Celestria, upon listening to Twilight's concerns, sends her to make friends and prepare for the summer solstice. Twilight firmly believes she doesn't need friends and tries to find ways to defeat Nightmare Moon.

Along the way she discovers 5 other ponies friendship, causing them to all fullfill thier destiny as bearers of the elements of harmony, powerful magical objects that allow them to defeat Nightmare moon and restore balance to Equestria.

I feel everyone can find somepony to relate to in the show. I'll give a quick intro to all 6 of the main ponies.

Twilight Sparkle: A studious young pony who at first is unsocial and considers knowledge more important than friendship. She deliberately avoids contact with other ponies due to this. Although she is organized and extremely meticulous, she often worries about things unnecessarily to the point of paranoia. But she cares for her friends and her faith in them rarely shakes. Twilght represents the element of magic for the elements of Harmony.

Applejack: An Earth pony, Applejack is the most hard working of the bunch. Born and raised on the Sweet Apple Acres, her family's farm, she is athletic and loves being outdoors. Although headstrong about doing things on her own, Applejack is normally kind and considerate. She often is ornery and stubborn. Applejack is the type of pony who sometimes lacks patience with aggressive or rude behavior and returns it in kind. she is Honest to a fault and represents the element of Honesty.

Fluttershy: My personal favorite. Fluttershy is calm, timid and shy Pegasus pony. she hates disappointing others and is often the "mother" of the group. she is kind and sensitive, almost to a fault. she has a special talent with animals and is confident in her ability. While generally soft-spoken, she is capable of giving "The Stare", a fierce and paralyzing gaze capable of taming and intimidating animals of all sizes. she represents the element of kindness.

Rainbow Dash: Cocky and a bit lazy, Rainbow Dash is very confident in her abilities. She is the fastest flyer in pony-ville and dreams of one day joining "the Wonder-bolts" ( a group of Pegasi like the Blue Angels) Rainbow can be mischievous and loves pulling pranks. she is also athletic and brash, with a competitive streak that has led her to go as far as to cheat in order to win. However, Rainbow is extremely loyal and will never abandon her friends, even if it means sacrificing her dreams to do it. she represents the element of loyalty.

Pinkie Pie: Pinkie Pie is an outgoing, energetic pony who loves sweets.  She has a fondness of parties and a tendency to throw them on a whim. Pinkie Pie plays many instruments and frequently breaks out into song. She also tends to hop rather than walk, usually accompanied by a springing noise. She is often not taken seriously even by her closest friends. The most random pony you'll ever meet, it is not uncommon for Pinkie to break the fourth wall in the show. She is an extrovert, the pony that every pony is friends with. Despite this, she still harbors insecurities. Pinkie represents the element of Laughter.

Rarity: Polite and ladylike, Rarity is the diva of the group. she has a talent for designing the latest fashions and love making new clothes for her friends. Rarity tends to be a drama queen, she can be vain.  While Rarity cares about her appearance quite a bit, being averse to stepping in mud or risking getting herself messy, she is not above getting her hooves dirty when it comes to helping her friends or creatures in need.despite being the representation of the element of Generosity, she is often self centered and narcissistic.

Now that I've told you about the ponies. let me tell you what I've learned from the show.

I learned that it's hard to accept when someone you like wants to spend time with someone who's not so nice. Though it's impossible to control who your friends hang out with, it is possible to control your own behavior. Just continue to be a good friend. In the end, the difference between a false friend and one who is true will surely come to light.

I learned to not being afraid of being thought of as a showoff to if it means you hiding a part of who you are. it's okay to be proud of your talents, and there are times when it's appropriate to show them off... Especially when you're standing up for your friends.

never lose faith in your friends. They can be an amazing source of strength, and can help you overcome even your greatest fears.

if you embrace each others differences, you just might be surprised to discover a way to be friends after all.

sometimes the solution to your problems can come from where you least expect it. It's a good idea to stop and listen to your friends' opinions and perspectives... Even when they don't always seem to make sense.

we all have hidden talents, and if we're patient and diligent we're sure to find them. And as always, with good friendship and teamwork, anything can be accomplished.

Sometimes, the thing you think will cause you to lose friends and feel left out can actually be the thing that helps you make your closest friends and realize how special you are.

if you try to please everyone, you oftentimes end up pleasing no one, especially yourself. And when someone offers to do you a favor,  you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you.

there are wonderful things in this world you just can't explain, but that doesn't necessarily make them any less true. It just means you have to choose to believe in them.

Just because someone is lady-like doesn't make her weak. In fact, by using her wits, a seemingly defenseless pony can be the one who outsmarts and outshines them all.

Being a good friend means being able to keep a secret, but you should never be afraid to share your true feelings with a good friend.

you should take your friends' worries seriously. Even if you don't think that she has anything to worry about.

being sisters is a wonderful thing, but it takes teamwork. Sometimes it's about compromising. Sometimes it's about accepting each others' differences. But mostly, it's about having fun together.

Waiting for what your heart desires can be really hard. So, you may try to take a shortcut. But this dishonesty never works, because you didn't earn what your heart desired. The only cure is being honest with yourself, and others.

No matter where you go in life, you should never forget that you are the product of your home and your friends. And that is something always to be proud of.

Sometimes, our desire for responsibility can outrun our actual ability to handle it.

Sorry for the ridicoulusly long post, I felt bad for not posting anything recently. hope you enjoy.

Life update and a small tangent on jerks.

Hello darklings! sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I had exams this week. I failed my math exam. :( but I passed my English one so that means I'm finished with all my English courses that I need for my AA degree. unfortunately this means I have to re-take my math class. I'll just work harder next time. Math really isn't my strong suit anyway.

I'm still having family trouble. but hopefully it'll all be smoothed over soon.

sorry for the short post. busy busy

Feeling odd

I've been feeling a bit off.

I can't sleep because my significant other is away on a trip. He won't be back till sunday night and it just feels strange not having him sleeping next to me...idk.

Things still aren't going well with the parental units. they refuse to see or speak with me. (sigh)

any advice on the subject would greatly be appreciated.

Goth challenge: day 4

4) Name a stereotype or cliche you can relate to.

I feel the stereotypes I relate to the most would have to be the "Goths are artists or musician." I like to draw and pursue artistic endeavors.

I finally finished moving!!!! (with a small rant)

So I finally moved into my Boyfriend's home. so far all is well, except for some minor parental issues.

My parents kicked me out since I decided to move out. It hurts a lot that they did that. It makes me feel unloved.

we had our clashes, we fought. But what kind of parent says "You want to move out and kick us to the curb." then completely cut you out from their life.

I'm giving them some time to cool down before I try to contact them. so wish me luck.

30 day goth challenge: day 3

day 3: when did you come out of the goth closet?

I never really came out of the goth closet...my friends just assumed I was goth and never made a big deal about it. My parents still don't realize I am gothic. they seem to be in denial and I just don't really feel like telling them if they haven't figured it out by this point. Hopefully they'll figure it out soon.

Goth Challenge: Day 2

2) share experiances and photos from your babybat days.

Thank goodness I have very few photos from my baby bat days.

Ex Boyfriend has been edited out
Sometimes I look back on my baby bat days and use bits of clothing from then. I embroidered that white skirt in the third picture and now it is one of my favorites.

When I first delved into the subculture, I thought I had to dress as "funky" as possible. I slowly learned how to dress classy but me. I feel the subculture gave me the freedom to be myself and still feel that sense of belonging.

when I joined the subculture, I found out who my true blue friends were. I think this helped me to be able to find the people I could be around. I discovered who was a good influence and who was a bad one. I also learned that my confidence comes from within.

30 day Goth challenge.

So I seem to be stuck at the moment with the clothing challenge, so I decided to join Odd Ghoul Out in her 30 day goth challenge from Juliet's Lace  so today is officially the first day.

Day 1) How did you come across the subculture?

Well when I was in high school, I had to switch schools 10th grade year due to a re-zoning. So when I went to my new high school I was already feeling a pull towards darker things. I was already a Tim Burton fan ( I was four when I first saw "Edward Scissorhands") I already loved darker things. I had never encountered "Goth Kids" until my first art class. I saw some goth kids and decided to talk to them. that was my first introduction to the Gothic subculture.
My Babybat years have been difficult. but I'd like to think my style has evolved. I can Thank my "sensei" of the gothic subculture. she was always very mature in dress, a mix of Victorian and fashion forward styles. Amanda was the one who introduced me to true Gothic music and showed me how to have style. she saw a potential gothy type and has groomed me into who I am today.
Thank you Sensei!

Youtube Stars: LeahMouse

So, I decided to start a series of blogs called Youtube Stars. This will be segments showcasing various gothy type Youtuber's who's video's I enjoy. I hope to help these youtuber's get even more notice. so with that enjoy.

LeahMouse is one of the funniest Youtube stars I watch. Her satires, jokes and just overall happy attitude makes me squeal with joy whenever she uploads something new.
Apart from her satires and parodies, LeahMouse has truly helpful videos about the Gothic Subculture. I find many of her videos both helpful and informative as well as just fun to listen to.

her opinions are fun to listen to and I find most of her videos to have good points. Although I especially enjoy her more fun and upbeat videos, her more serious videos can be just as entertaining.
I also enjoy her Vlog channel that just has her escapades through everyday life.

So if you liked these videos feel free to look through her channel.

The Parent Dilemma

Like every Goth-ling, I too face the parent dilemma. the constant chorus of

"Your not going out dressed like that!"

"You'd look so pretty if you didn't wear your makeup so dark."

"black on black, are you depressed?"

Goodness how I hate these comments and the many more I tend to get from family. Many of them just fail to understand.

sometimes all everyone needs is to understand that not everyone is going to like your style. I often fail to understand quite a few of my parent's worries. The one thing to remember though is that all your parents want is for you to be successful. sometimes they think they know better and sometimes that's true. but always try to keep an open mind.

So when talking to your parents about goth, I found it's better to compromise than to fight.

  1. ask them if you keep your grades up, can you dress goth?
  2. If they're worried about tattoos or dyeing your hair, tell them you'll wait till your 18 and have a job so you can pay for it yourself.
  3. If they don't think your relatives will like it, just say how you'll tone down around them.
  4. if they don't like music they think is "goth", show them some goth music they may know like The Cure, Bauhaus, The Smiths, or Siouxie and the Banshees.
  5. Tell them you won't dress inappropriately. some parents worry their children may start to wear short skirts and fishnets. tell them you'll dress appropriately but in black.
  6. Let them know you are not depressed, doing drugs or getting in trouble. explain that you feel comfortable in the Gothic aesthetic.
  7. if they worry your makeup will be too extreme, try to say you're makeup will be simple around family and you won't over do it.

I hope I've helped a little and I plan on making more posts like this with some actual advice but for now.

Enjoy!

Love,

Lady Zendra.

So Far So Great: Moving day preparations

Okay so my moving is going well. Today my boyfriend, Andrew, and I cleaned up his closet and room to make room for my things. :) it was so fun!

First we cleared out his Manga and books and pushed all his clothes to the side. then we put up a hanging cubby for the closet, then we took off the doors of the cabinet where he keeps the T.V to make more room for me to get into my things in the closet.

Sorry it's blurry.
After We made room in the closet, I had to hang up all my clothes. Not my favorite chore but still it had to be done. I made Andrew help.

I made a bit of a mess on his bed. You can barely see most of my things because of his black sheets, for someone who isn't involved with the Gothic subculture sometimes the things he likes makes me wonder. XD

Damien, my pride and Joy
My Laptop, Damien. He is busy playing my Pandora music, Playing "Hollow Hills" by Bauhaus. =) although Andrew kept trying to change it to his country stations. =P which I didn't mind but I was looking for more my things.

My boyfriend that I keep going on about. He said that around Halloween he'll take me to shop for some decorations for my shelves!!!! I'll definitely have to make a blog for that. =)

Sorry for the Picspam, but I am so excited to move. I'm already going to gothify his room with some curtains. he says he doesn't mind! some days I think he's just perfect.

Comment on any ideas for where I can get knick knacks for my shelves.

I decided to post my outfit and make up for today. Because I can!

sorry my hair was still wet from a shower. but  i decided to be pretty lenient with makeup today. I bought that headband at a little boutique in town. I love my Kitty necklace my Boyfriend bought me at the Mummies of the World exhibit at MOSI.

Don't I look pretty. this is my plain black shirt and black lace skirt. I love the skirt and you can even see my "bat motel" sign that I hang by my bed.

sorry for the short post.

Dating Non-goths

Even though I was a late bloomer to the subculture (I didn't get into it until I was about 17) I get asked very often by other goths "How do you date guys/girls not into the subculture?" believe it or not a few  of my non-goth friends ask this as well.

I have never dated within the subculture. I had a boyfriend during my starting years (I still consider myself a bit of a baby bat) but that lasted about 3 months. the boyfriend after that was 1 month long.

However, I was in a relationship for over a year. This guy was a non-goth but I made it work. Until he started to try and change my opinions on everything. He was selfish and overly opinionated, believing his opinions were always right. I tend to be a laid back person but when things I liked became "stupid." or "But that's so stereotypically Gothic, can't you form your own identity." is when I had enough.

I am in another budding relationship now, with a psychology major I met at my college. He is sweet and kind, as well as so laid back he doesn't care what I wear or like. He respects me and I respect him.

7that's the keyword "RESPECT" a relationship is give and take. The one your with needs to except your quirks and love of anything. I firmly believe that if your significant other hates what you like he cannot truly love you.

I found a good guy who (seemingly) excepts all my quirks. all you need is to find that one person who can look at what you wear and say "You look nice" even when most of the world would want to hang you for it.

Love,

Lady Zendra.

Decorating tips for the Budget Goth

In my Previous Post, I talked about things to do before a move. Now I wish to tell you some Gothy and Gruesome ways to decorate your new room, apartment, or home on a budget.

Black sheets and material goes a long way. use it as a table cloth to decorate that collapsible kitchen table. also put the material on end tables and nightstands. you can also put candles on the table or nightstands to add decoration. even your favorite little Knick-knacks and collectibles can be used to decorate.you can even drape a black sheet over your couch. My favorite thing to do is to take a black sheet and splash white paint on it. you can also to this to a white sheet with black or red paint. just make sure you splash the acrylic paint on the sheet OUTSIDE to avoid messes.

Another thing to do is get little knick-knacks. such as sculls, fake spiderwebs, black lamps, gargoyle statuettes and etc. these can add a sense of gothiness if you place them right.

If you can, look out at thrift stores and charity shops for cheap couches, chairs or anything else that can be used for cheap. also look out for things you can modify to make more gothy.

I like to visit halloween stores or Walmart the day after Halloween to find things I can use for decorating on sale before they store it away.

check out this LeahMouse Video for some more ideas. She's pretty funny and I like her creative ideas.

Happy Decorating!

Love,
Lady Zendra

Moving out soon

So at the end of this month I will hopefully be moving out of my parents house. I will be moving into my boyfriends house! I finally can get out of here.

now I decided to give some helpful hints for moving out.

first thing to do is go through your clothes and bags and whatever else you can go through. You need to separate into three piles : Keep, Throw out, and donate.

When you throw out things make sure it is completely unusable. garbage hidden in drawers, pieces of cloth, anything you don't want or can't donate.

when you want to donate articles of clothing or bags, make sure they're in good condition and can be worn. I like to donate clothes and books to the local goodwill and my bags often go to various family and friends. you can also recreate bags using parts from older bags. Stuffed animals can also be transformed into bags or purses

this is my favorite YouTube video on turning stuffed animals into bags. Kazlovesbats is amazing and I highly recommend you view her other videos as well.

Now when you go to pack, everything will be condensed down and you will have only the things you absolutely want and need for your new place. I will list some decorating tips for a new place later on in another post. =)

have a spooky day darklings,

Bats and Kisses,
Lady Zendra
